The steps to a Repair

Here I installed sheetrock, in the day when the house was built they would have installed 3/8" plaster board

I fill in around the edges of the sheetrock, I use Durabond 90 once it sets up it's harder then the plaster.

Then I use paper drywall tape then apply another coat of Durabond, This stops any stress crack you get when you do a repair, Some people think that mesh tape is better and stronger, the problem with mesh is when the house exspans and contracts.

Then I skim coat the whole repair, After I float it with topping.

Here the ceiling is primed, The Customer wanted to do their own painting, Which is fine, I do a lot of repairs so people can paint, I also like to give Homeowners some pointers on doing the painting, just to help get by some of the head aches. It makes the job easier for them and the next time they paint they don't mind as much.

Here are some Arches and Crown Moulding in a Kitchen

This is a remodel we did in 2004, I had my daughter and son along with my brother and my helper Dan. The whole house was gutted out down to the framing which was not done by our Company, This house was owned by  Tom and Nancy Brennan, The master bathroom water supply line froze while they were sking up north. They had the upstairs remodeled back in 1988, which was poorly done, the plumbers had run the water supply lines in the attic area with very little insulation to keep the pipes from freezing. Well Allstate Insurance had ServePro come into to remove the water, Then we went in it was April 20, 2004 to remove the water damage plaster from the wood lath. Most of the plaster was falling off the wood lath, I found mold on the wood lath and so I had to call Allstate, They made us stop working so that ServePro(Certified by State of Michigan) could come in and test. Well they found mold, it took them 5 months to run tests and then they ripped out everything, They DESTORIED the interior of this house, They cut up oak flooring that was never touched by water,They didn't care they trashed it anyways, They tore out two decorative moulding that I had told Tom that I wanted to make castings of, so I could put them back in the house, But when you use 15 guys with saws, sledge hammers and pry bars, and No Supervision. well they took it down to the bare framing. Every wall, ceiling, door and window casing gone in the dumpster. So I sat down and drew up some plans to remove the wall framing in between the Kitchen and Dining rooms, Then we enlarged the two bedrooms, with this the hall down the center of the house was used for the bedrooms. we took out the wall between the small back bedroom and the kitchen this created a open floor plan.

This is after we primed everything, there are still picture moulding I had to install under the Plaster Crown. This job took us almost 9 months.
