Plaster Crown moulding

Since work is slow,  I figured I would work around the house, So in one of the back Bedrooms I decided to run some Crown Moulding, I had an old Plaster Horse laying on a shelf, So  I picked up some mud and started working it., The pictures that follow show each step I have to take, to create this Crown Moulding.

Here the Crown Moulding has been run

Here I install a new piece of Cornice Moulding after I let the Cornice Moulding dry for about 10 days.

Now that the Cornice Mouldings are in place and I have the ceiling basecoat and skimcoated I will move to the other side of the room and start to make the Crown Moulding.

Here I apply the mud to the corner then I will pull the horse along to form the Crown Moulding.

I pack the mud into the corner then once I have enough I will run the Horse threw the mud and it will form the profile of the Crown, Over the years I have had to repair fifty or sixty of these type of Crown Mouldings,

I have applied the skimcoat to the Crown Moulding then it's primed, after I will spackel the Crown I will fill in small holes.

Here I  put up the other two pieces of Cornice moulding. Then I put a basecoat on the ceiling.

First I had to install wire mesh at the top of the walls since the ceiling height is 99" instead of the normal 96"

Well after doing a little tape and mud I install the cleats the Plaster Horse runs on, then I will fill with mud.

Here the basecoat has been run then I will apply a skimcoat to the Crown Moulding, I will cast the Cornice Moulding and while it drys I will basecoat and skimcoat the ceiling and walls.
