Something I'm working on continued
Basecoating of Crown Moulding
South wall of Bedroom
This is the last wall I have to plaster the crown moulding on,.
This is the West wall of the Bedroom
Here is what the Crown Moulding looks like after only a few passes, I will run the mud a couple more times to fill in any holes that are in the moulding, Once the basecoat done I will skimcoat.
The corners of the moulding are done free hand, I use a small brick trowel and then I go back over the corner after it sets up. I have speical tools that an Oldtime Plasterer sold me, These tools where made in Berlin, Germany back in the 1920's and He wanted to know that they would be used, Well I can tell you they are used very much. I just wish I could find more of these tools. But they just don't make 'em.
Now that the Crown has been basecoated I move on to the ceiling, I put down a basecoat around 1/8 of an inch thick.
Here I jumped a few pictures but I have already put down the skimcoat on the ceiling and the Crown then I took the cast Cornice Moulding and installed them to the walls just at the bottom of the Crown Moulding, I will then finish out the walls with a basecoat and skimcoat.
