Plaster Damage due to Water

For the past 23 years, I have taken hundreds of photo's of jobs, I like to take the before we do anything, Then the next set of shots will be of removing water damage plaster, then we put it back together and either we will prime repairs so that Home Owners can do finish painting, Or we offer that service as well.

This is a Living room ceiling that was repaired and what had happen was the paint started to peel so the guy just patched. I took and scraped with a 4" razor blade to remove his patch and also the loose paint failures under his patch.

After scraping the patch and paint you can see the plaster ceiling

This area we scraped took about 45 minutes and the rest of the ceiling to go

This is the Dining room ceiling it also had been patched and paint peeling under the patch

A section of the Dining room ceiling came out

Here we basecoat the edges of the peeled paint

In the Living room we ended up basecoating the whole ceiling

The skimcoat is applied to the Living room ceiling

The the ceiling in Living room was primed then spotted out

Well we got the ceiling repaired and all painted

The ceiling in this staircase was painted the same color as the walls, there was only the trim around the window and baseboards that were painted white

The walls and ceiling are finished

We painted the ceiling in white so it tied the trim work together giving this stairway more contast

Here the Plumber cut out the ceiling to repair the drain

Above the Archway the water from the drain ran under the paint and turned the plaster and portland cement to sand, you can see the waves in the paint

The person who made the first repair had used metal lath and did not remove the wood lath to find that the drain pipe had split and was still leaking.

Finish Paint and this ceiling in a Foyer is done
