 When I go out to do an estimate on water damage I have seen all types, from small leaks to major floods. I have found over the years of repairing this type of damage some people don't understand what water can do to their plaster and drywall, If a leak is there and you can see it, you should take action. cause if you don't well I have posted pictures to show some of the water damage I have dealt with over the years.

With plaster it can hold water for a long time, Say if there's a roof leak and the plaster only gets wet when it rains. Well I have seen where it could of been leaking for twenty years and no one knew, When I started out the Old Timers would say "Don't tear that out just scrape the loose top coat and put some new putty on it done deal" Well that was when I asked "Well what about the back side of the ceiling where the water is coming from?" then came, "Kid it'll dry out!" Well I knew that there was no way this would ever dry out. So I started to tear out ceilings and walls that had water damage and man some of the rot I came to find in people's home. Now a days the BLACK MOLD is the big money game, we use plain old Bleach to kill mold.

I started Frankawitz Custom Painting & Plastering Repairs in 1993 Before that I was known as Frank A. Witt's Custom Painting & Plastering Repairs which started in Feb 1985.

I started working in apartment painting then moved into doing new construction painting mostly residental houses, I worked for a few different contractors, Then I met Ray Howell, This man had been a Painter/Contractor for 48 years, He  knew everything there was to know about painting, He had a company of 96 Union Painters, I worked for Ray about a year and he was retiring and I was just starting out, Ray showed me alot and the things he showed me about the construction of a house or building and the things to look for when pricing out paint jobs, When I come to Your Home I see it in away that you don't, I see cracks and nick's in walls or trim way before you tell me about them. I look at the previous paint job, If I'm looking at repairing, I figure how much needs to be removed. Ray always said to keep my eyes open and the house or building will show what is wrong with it.  I owe him many thanks, He gave me away to see and figure out how the house was being damaged. I can tell if it's stress or if there's water. I love to hear Insurance Adjustors tell Homeowners "It's cause it's old!" that's why your ceiling is falling around your ears! Cause it's old? I think not most of the time if plaster is coming down or off the lath most of the time water is playing a part.

Well after working with Ray I figure I could do it, Ray had told me a story how he got his start, He, like me had been working for different companies trying to fit in and make a living, Well the guy he worked for one day says to Ray, "How long you been aworkin for me now, Ray! Ray said I don't know a few years, He told Ray your a stupid! as much talent you have you worka for me, you stupid Ray! Well Ray said the next day he got up and his wife handed him his lunch and away he went to work, That night he came home and his wife was at the front door and she was asking "What happened to you all day, Ray!" "Leo has been calling all day for you!" He said I looked at her and told her"I'm stupid!" So Ray told her, I figured I would see how stupid I was and now I work for myself, Ray had gone to all the guys and gals he had met over the years and told them if you need any painting give me a call, Most of them said but you work for Leo, He said not anymore, Ray said to me "Kid you can do it I did it, I just needed someone to tell me and your ready" That's when I started working for myself so I asked my Mother for a loan and told her I was going to start a business called Frank A. Witt's Custom Painting & Plastering Repairs. She told me that to start a business it takes a lot of money, My Mother had worked for some of the better companies. She was a V.P. of Supplemental Staffing Inc. So she did know. I asked for $100 dollars I bought a phone. Got a Business line hooked up.but I figured I knew how to paint and match colors and stain, that was when I Started out, I found myself doing more repairs of other peoples work, I was always fixing the last guys paint job. I then went to work as a sub contractor working for bigger companies. That didn't last to long, As I seen how the insurance work was done I put together my first Yellow Pages adveristment(1986), the work just started rolling in.

When I changed the name of the company is when I moved to Roseville,MI. (1993) The name change was also the idea of Ray's, Cause when I met Ray I didn't have a business yet, So I made up some cards and gave one to Ray. He said it was a nice card, but he said you may want to change the name to Frankawitz, He said that it would look Old World using my name like that, He said I could take the t and the s off my name and then ad a z and smash it together. Therefore Frankawitz.
